Neuromas
Neuromas – how closed-toe shoes can cause this condition and what to do about it.
In cold weather, you’re likely putting away the flip flops and wearing more closed-toe shoes. Closed-toe shoes that are narrow or have a pointed toe box style can cause a painful condition to the ball of the foot. These symptoms can occur commonly between the third and fourth digits and between any toes with a burning or tingling sensation. One may also experience the feeling like there is a pebble in the shoe or a slip in the sock.
If you experience any of these types of symptoms, you should visit your podiatrist for a proper evaluation. If you’d like to schedule an appointment with at Gulf South Foot and Ankle, you can do so here. Conservative treatments include changes in shoe gear, cortisone or sclerosing injections, icing, arch supports and proper offloading padding. Sometimes you may need surgery for this condition.
Enjoy the cooler weather and take of those feet!
