A Thankful Season with Foot Pain

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

Thankfulness is an attitude that’s easy to take for granted, but it can actually have a significant, positive impact on your health. An attitude of gratitude not only improves your mood, but it decreases resentment, frustration, and feelings of depression. It’s also connected to a healthier life in general. It can be hard to be thankful in the moment, though, when you’re dealing with sore and painful feet. Something you can be thankful for in that situation, however, is at-home foot care providing you with some relief this holiday season!

Easy at-home foot care works to help reduce soreness and the pressure on your lower limbs, so you can go about your day without foot pain. People are so busy during the holidays—always on the go, standing and walking for work and constantly running errands. Foot pain can really interrupt your life and family time. Fortunately, a little at-home care goes a long way!

Here are a few tips for foot care that may help:

  1. Stretch your feet – Stretching feet regularly helps relax sore, tightened tissues, which can reduce discomfort.

  2. Wear good shoes – Cushioned shoes with good support help absorb some of the pressure and hard impacts from standing and walking, which can relieve pain.

  3. Get extra cushioning – If your own shoes are not enough, using orthotics to provide additional padding or support may help.

  4. Try a foot bath – Soaking your feet can help them relax and rejuvenate.

  5. Take breaks – Find time to be off your feet when you can. Start by propping them up to help fight the swelling in your feet. Icing sore areas may help with this as well.

Persistent foot pain may be a sign of more serious underlying issues. If at-home foot care isn’t helping, you may need targeted treatments. Getting your feet examined and potential problems diagnosed will be the key.
